Take Your Guitar Playing Beyond What You Think Is Possible
Here You Won't Just Be Told To Practice, You Will Be Shown How
- Have you been playing guitar for a while but are not progressing?
- Do you know some things on the guitar but have no idea what to do with that stuff?
- Do you want to be able to write your own songs but you don't think you are creative?
- Would you love to play in a band but you are scared just thinking about joining one?
- Want to be able to improvise your own solos but every time you try you can't do it fluently and freely?
So you have been playing the guitar for quite some time. You have learned a few things on the guitar. You may know some chords, arpeggios, some songs or at least parts of songs. Perhaps you know some scales and may know some basic music theory and guitar techniques.
But now you are thinking "what do I do now? What do I do with this stuff I have learned? What is this stuff I have learned for?" You know quite a lot of things but you do not feel like a musician. And the things you do know, you have not mastered. You can't play the things you know cleanly, fluently and make your playing sound great like your favourite players. You may not be able to play consistently 100% of the time without making mistakes. This is frustrating to you.
Or if you have mastered the things you know you are still frustrated. Because you don't know where to go from here. You want to be able to do fun music activities with your guitar beyond just playing your favourite songs. You can already do that to some extent, you want to do more than that now. For example you may want to write your own songs or solos.
Perhaps you would like to play in a band and perform your favourite songs onstage. Or you may take it a step further and perform the songs you wrote. Maybe jamming at open mic nights and being able to improvise sounds good to you. You might want to record the music you write and play the songs at a party for your friends. At the very least you want to sound good when you play your guitar through your amplifier. This is why you are looking for guitar lessons in Exmouth for intermediates.
"If you are thinking about starting guitar lessons again, later in life or as a beginner, I can from personal experience say that in 3 months this is the first time in 30 years that I have been able to pick up a guitar and just confidently play and be pleasantly surprised by the sound that comes out of the amplifier.
I am so pleased with the progress that I have made in just 3 months."
But you have no idea how to do any of these things. You don't know what or how to practice to fix these problems. You may be get motivated to practice then end up discouraged as you feel you have gotten no better. And the cycle repeats. Now you might be thinking that it is not possible for you to do any of these things. You may think you either have it or you don't.
You could be thinking things like:
"I'm just not creative enough."
"Maybe I don't have an ear for music."
"I'll never sound as good as my favourite guitar players. I just don't have it."
"It's not possible for me to play in a band."
"I can't play in front of people because I can't become good enough."
Even if you are a good guitarist already, your skills seem to disappear when it matters the most. You may be pretty good when playing guitar by yourself but not when jamming with your friends or performing. This is why you may be afraid just thinking about doing any of these things. You have started to doubt yourself and you have likely thought about giving up. That's why you are looking for guitar lessons in Exmouth for intermediates.
If this sounds anything like you, I understand exactly how you feel. Many people including myself and my students have felt the exact same way. Even the people you look up to once felt like this. Everyone who can play the guitar really well has gone through this. A lot of people try for years and don't get anywhere and eventually give up. But the good news is that it doesn't have to be this way for you.
You truly can learn to do any of these things. But if you are like most people you are thinking "how can I do this?" Here is how.
3 Things Which Will Guarantee A Lot Of Musical Progress
1) Learn how to practice to master the things you need to master to progress
As mentioned, chances are you have not mastered the things you have learned yet. This is something which holds a lot of intermediate guitarists back. But don't worry, it is not because you are not physically capable of mastering these things. It is only because you have not learned all the effective ways of practising these things.
Practising for a gig is different than practising alone. Improving your ability to play the things you know cleaner requires a different way of practising then increasing the maximum speed you can play it.
Memorising something requires a different strategy than practising to be able to play something multiple times in a row without making mistakes. Once you are able to practice to master each aspect of the things you know, you will notice a big difference in your guitar playing.
2) You need to know how to use your skills and be able to use them in real time.
It is pointless to know something if you don't know how to use it right? If you can't use something to write songs, improvise solos or do whatever you want to do there is no point learning it. My guess is you do not know how to use the things you know. Or if you do, you likely can't use multiple skills simultaneously.
This is the key to being creative in music. This is why you don't know how to be creative, because you are not yet able to do this. Therefore you are unaware of the choices you could make, or unable to play them or think of them on the spot.
I also said you need to be able to use them in real time. You need to be able to do this in any musical situation you will encounter. You need to get used to being able to do this not just when you are practising at home by yourself. Once you learn this, you will be a much better guitarist and musician even if you learned nothing else.
3) Lastly you need to take guitar lessons in Exmouth for intermediates from a teacher who has training on how to teach the guitar!
If you have taken guitar lessons before, chances are that guitar teacher does not have training on how to teach guitar. Most guitar teachers learn by trial and error. Most do not do the things listed above. Any few that do, most do not have the training on how to teach you to do these things.
So if you have taken guitar lessons before but you have not made a lot of progress, it is not your fault. You simply haven't taken lessons from the guitar instructor who has been trained how to teach guitar.
But once you take intermediate guitar lessons in Exmouth from a trained teacher, you have no choice but to make progress!
"I've been playing guitar for quite a long time actually on and off nearly ten years but I wasn't progressing at all. I think the most helpful thing has been the additional techniques that I've learnt that I wasn't aware of previously. When you are self taught it's obviously difficult to pick those things up.
I would thoroughly recommend anybody to take lessons with this teacher actually, it's been an eye opener for me."
My name is Jake Willmot and I teach guitar lessons in Exmouth for intermediates. I am a member of the Elite Guitar Teachers Inner Circle. There I have learned how to teach struggling guitarists like yourself how to do the things listed above and more. I am the only guitar teacher in Exmouth who is receiving this training.
Think about how great you are going to feel when you have written a song that sounds like a song. Not just chords crammed together. To be able to freely improvise some cool lead guitar solos that sound great like your favourite guitar players.
Wouldn't it be great if you are able to play onstage in a band or on your own? Would it be amazing to be able to confidently play without worry and have people clap their hands at the end? How would you feel when everyone who hears you play is in awe because of how great you will sound?
